The Largest-scale Campus Basketball Tournament in Hong Kong ——"Ta Kung Cup"  Held at Pui Kiu College

 

On December 8, 2024, the final and award ceremony of the 2nd “Ta Kung Cup” 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament was held at Pui Kiu College. A total of 48 teams competed across three divisions (Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories) for the championship titles in four categories (U11, U13, U15, and U19) for both boys and girls. This year also introduced an invitation category for colleges and a national invitation category, each featuring 8 teams. The competition was lively, displaying the spirited new outlook of the youth. Chief Executive John Lee delivered a virtual address during the award ceremony, praising the "Ta Kung Cup" for not only encouraging Hong Kong students to strengthen their bodies through sports but also for fostering youth exchange between mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong, which is very meaningful.

 

 

The 2nd “Ta Kung Cup” 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament was guided by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Publicity, Culture and Sports Department of the Central Government's Liaison Office in Hong Kong. It was organized by Ta Kung Pao, with the Hong Kong Educators Association, Pui Kiu Education Institution, Hon Wah  College, and Scientia Secondary School as co-organizers, and Shooter Basketball Club (SBC) handling the event logistics.

 

 

John Lee pointed out that sports events not only strengthen the body but also cultivate athletes' willpower, teamwork skills, and ability to face challenges. He expressed the hope that every young person in Hong Kong could strive for excellence and set lofty goals, using the spirit of hard work and perseverance in sports to drive the development of the city.
